Like we mentioned spring weather is legendary unpredictable and beautiful (These are proving even Slovenian traditional Sayings). Mainly because the main artist – Nature and its Vegetation is starting to wake up after winter to start a new growing season. Therefore, Trees and flowers are in fool bloom usually the second half of April and May. During spring seasons in Ljubljana, You could feel a new beginning also among people. As an illustration, sometimes we could say: “love is in the air” while we are spending our time of Ljubljana. For instance, in the center where Terraces of cafes are packed with locals. Especially on warm sunny days after the long winter season, locals are meandering around in a leisurely way. It is lively, colorful and dynamic but there are still not as many foreign travelers around as in the Ljubljana summer season.

The fact is that the second part of March it is the end of winter season and the beginning of the spring season. Therefore, we could get throughout the whole period winter conditions with freezing temperatures around 0 °C, even snow it is possible. In spring it is also a bit higher potential to have rain. As said temperatures could vary a lot in this period mostly from 5°C to 25°C. Usually it depends if it is a sunny or rainy day and how close to summer, we are.

Summer seasons in Ljubljana - weather and happening in June, July and August.
Warm, hot summers when You realize that we are super close to South Europe. In this period, we have on average a bit higher humidity and more days with sun. Days are also noticeably longer, with up to 15 h of sunlight per day.
In the summertime Ljubljana is the liveliest and the greenness of the area is outstanding. Cafes and restaurants by the river are full and there are many concerts and other open-air cultural or even sports events. It is worth to mention one simple, great option: street artists on the streets. Especially it is great to enjoy them in the warm, laid back evenings. P.s. do not miss the Trnovo festival in August. You will notice in the center that there are more international travelers and fewer locals. This is because locals are traveling a lot in that period - especially to the Adriatic coast and to the Alps.

As mentioned in summer the weather in Ljubljana is under the influence of air currents coming from the Mediterranean area. This is possible because the closest coastline is just 100km away.
June, July and August are the hottest months of the year and temperatures could vary from 20°C to 35°C. There are on average more than 10 days per year with temperatures above 30°C.
Especially in the summer heat-storms are relatively common and can be quite heavy - often even with lightning and hail. It is good to take it into account, especially if You decide for a day bike trip around Ljubljana away from urban areas.

Autumn seasons in Ljubljana-weather and happening in September, October and November.
Autumn is on average the wettest part of the year. Although this fact is not important anymore when we are starting to talk about amazingly colorful fall. Your visit could be unforgettable because of trees which are turning their leaves into brown, yellow, red, etc. Sometimes the impression is like that trees are shining. This magic of nature will be for You in Ljubljana and in amazing forests of Slovenia from the middle of October till the last half of November.
Local tip: If There is rain, while You are visiting Ljubljana, there is always an option to visit the best caves in the world. You could find them in the Slovenian Karts region, mostly just 50km away.
In Ljubljana, You will notice that foreign travelers are mostly gone and that locals are back. Especially students are noticeable because of the beginning of the new school year.

Days can still be sunny and warm - especially in September and the first part of October. Statistically most of the rain You could expect in October and especially in November.
Temperatures could vary a lot in this period from 10°C to 25°C. Mostly depends if it is a sunny or rainy day. Another important factor is how far from the summer we are because days are starting to be noticeably shorter.

Winter seasons in Ljubljana-weather and happening in December, January and February.
Moderately cold winters - yes, Your dream of the white, beautifully decorated Christmas could come true. In this period, you could notice really well that Ljubljana is close to the Alps and therefore affected by the Alpine climate.
It is true that the average temperature is rising also in Ljubljana. Therefore, snow is less common than in the past but You could expect snow from December to February. Because Ljubljana is located in the south of the Ljubljana basin late autumn and winter can witness how fog is covering the city. In times of temperature inversion, this can happen also for a longer period. Tip: You could always find snow and escape from the fog to the closest ski resort Krvavec just 40 km away.
When we talk about happening in December do not miss the outdoor Christmas Market and Christmas decorations of Ljubljana. You could visit it from the end of November till January. Pay attention to open-air concerts which usually organized in the last week before New Year`s Eve celebration. You will notice that this period is popular among locals for gatherings. For sure we could say that this kind of gatherings are one of the highlights of the seasons in Ljubljana. So-called “veseli”-happy December is for us the perfect time to mingle and celebrate the end of the year. Have in mind that most of the events are going on outdoor so do not forget warm clothes. Besides layers mulled wine and other specialties from the stalls could help you to deal with low temperatures. All this you will be able to enjoy together with impressive Christmas light decoration. Because of the size of Ljubljana decorations are a bit more concentrated in one place which makes a truly fairy tale atmosphere.
